Offers & campaigns

Managing campaigns, their schedules, and which offers appear on the site.

Offers & campaigns

Description

Every offer and promotion on the site is a campaign post. The campaign holds the content and the schedule, and Marketing Settings is where you choose which campaigns actually appear in the offers modules.

Two things therefore have to line up for an offer to be visible: it has to be in the Marketing Settings list and marked active, and its own schedule has to have it live.

How to edit

  1. In WordPress admin, open Campaigns and create or edit the campaign.
  2. Work through the General Settings, Schedule, and Images tabs.
  3. Save the campaign as Published — drafts are ignored by the scheduler, so a draft will never go live on its own.
  4. Open Marketing Settings and make sure the campaign is in the offers list and marked active.
  5. Check the Offers modules on the front end.

Marketing Settings

Marketing Settings holds the list of offers the site shows, as a repeating list of entries pointing at campaigns. An entry has to be marked active to appear in the offers modules, which makes this the place to add or pull an offer without touching the campaign itself.

The campaign's own schedule still applies on top of this, so an active entry only shows while its campaign is live. When an offer is missing from the site, it is usually one of three things: it is not in the list, it is not marked active, or it is outside its campaign dates.

General Settings

FieldField nameRequiredWhat it does
Productcampaign_productYesQ Mastercard, Q Card, or both.
Customer typecampaign_customer_typeNoNew customer or Existing customer.
Customer Type Badgecampaign_customer_type_badgeNoTurn this on to show the customer type as a secondary tag on the offer cards.
Descriptioncampaign_descriptionYesUp to 140 characters.
Disclaimercampaign_disclaimerNoThe small print shown with the offer. The hint on this field says 80 characters, but it will accept up to 180.

Schedule

This tab controls when the campaign page and its banner are visible. The banner is the promotional block on the Home page and the Offers & Promotions page.

FieldField nameRequiredWhat it does
Campaign schedulecampaign_scheduleYesAlways on keeps the campaign live with no end date. Specific dates reveals the four date fields below, all of which then have to be filled in.

Dates — only shown when the schedule is set to Specific dates:

FieldField nameWhat it does
Campaign page live datecampaign_live_dateWhen the campaign page is published.
Campaign page expire datecampaign_expire_dateWhen the campaign page is unpublished.
Banner live datecontest_live_dateWhen the banner is published.
Banner end datecontest_end_dateWhen the banner is unpublished. The link through to the campaign page keeps working until the campaign's own end date.

Set by the system — do not change these by hand:

  • Campaign is live (campaign_is_live)
  • Banner is live (banner_is_live)

Both are set automatically by the scheduler from the dates above.

Scheduling rules

These are the rules shown on the campaign itself, and they are worth following closely:

  1. A scheduled campaign has to be saved as Published, not draft. The scheduler ignores drafts, because a draft is not considered ready to publish.
  2. A published campaign that has not reached its live date can still be opened on its direct link, but only by people logged in to the website.
  3. The scheduler runs every five minutes, so allow up to five minutes for a change to take effect.
  4. Publishing a campaign early to show it to people without website access is discouraged. Use Figma files or screenshots to get copy and visuals approved instead.
  5. Check the campaign and banner dates carefully before go-live. The banner should always be unpublished before the campaign.
  6. If something does not behave as described here, raise it with the channels team rather than working around it.

Images

FieldField nameWhat it does
Desktop Imagecampaign_desktop_imageThe campaign image used on the page and the offer cards.
Mobile Imagecampaign_mobile_imageA separate mobile image, which is not currently used.

Both accept JPG, PNG, and GIF. Only the desktop image is used at the moment, and it is cropped to fit the mobile version of the page and the offer cards.

Where campaigns are used

  • Offers — the featured offer block and the offers carousel
  • Deals — a deal's Promotional Card field points at a campaign to show its promotional card on the deal page
