Merchants
Description
Merchants are the retailers themselves. They appear in Find a retailer alongside deals, and each deal links back to a merchant through the deal's Merchant field.
Merchants have no schedule or expiry, so a published merchant is always visible.
How to edit
- In WordPress admin, open Merchants.
- Create or edit a merchant and fill in the fields below.
- Publish, then check the merchant on Find a retailer.
Fields

Leaving fields empty or incomplete affects how the merchant displays on the Find a retailer page. At a minimum, fill in the logo, the merchant image, and the merchant category so the card displays correctly.
Lists shared with deals
Three merchant fields choose from the same lists as the matching deal fields:

How merchants are filtered
On Find a retailer, deals and merchants appear in the same list but respond to the filters differently:

| Standard purchases deal type | Always match. |
| Interest-free offers deal type | Never match — that deal type applies to deals only. |
| Payment holidays deal type | Never match — that deal type applies to deals only. |
| Shopping options | Merchant Availability is matched directly. On top of that, Online in Payment options matches the Online option and In Store matches the In-store option, so a merchant can match those two through either field. Long Term Finance and Eftpos are not used by the filter. |
| Interest-free terms | Never match. The filter only looks at the deal field, so selecting any term leaves every merchant out of the results, even one with matching terms of its own. |
| Categories | Match when a Merchant category is selected. |
Where merchants are used
- Find a retailer — deals and merchants appear together in the results
- Deals — each deal is linked to a merchant
The filtering relies on these field names, so renaming a field needs a developer.
